WeCode Conference

Rewriting the Code

The winter of my freshman year of college, I joined Rewriting the Code, a network for women in college and industry pursuing technology. After my first semester CS class, which was about 15% female, I was excited to connect with other women with similar interests. The RTC community has supported me in many ways, including sending me to the 2023 WeCode conference at Harvard (pictured in the image) for free! The summer after my freshman year, I became a Rising Leader for RTC, which has been a rewarding opportunity to increase RTC's community engagement and outreach.

TechGirlz Workshop

TechGirlz

Back in high school, I shared my love of programming by volunteering with the national nonprofit TechGirlz. I worked on TechGirlz's Teen Advisory Board to teach free STEM workshops for middle school girls. Before I volunteered for TechGirlz, I attended these workshops as a student, which fostered my interest in computer science. Now, I teach a variety of classes, like programming in Python (shown in the image) and robotics. I have also spoken on behalf of TechGirlz at several events, like at the Women in Mathematics Kickoff in Durham. I have also written several blog posts for TechGirlz.
