About Me

Hi again! Here's a little bit more about me.

Although I am only a sophomore, I have already had the opportunity to take many computer science classes at Brown, thanks to an accelerated class in my freshman year. This enabled me to work as a site reliability engineering intern at Pearson the summer after my freshman year. In this internship, I learned how site reliability engineers navigate DevOps culture to support both software developers and IT operations, and this job only made me more excited to pursue a degree in computer science. Since high school, I have known that I wanted to pursue technology, but I'm still not sure where I'll end up within this massive industry. My various interests include networking and distributed systems, artificial intelligence, and web design, and I'm excited to continue learning about each!

Outside of classes, I joined the Dev team of Hack@Brown, which organizes Brown's annual hackathon. On the Dev team, I helped build the hackthon's website with React. You can check out our 2023 website here! Also, as I describe on the community engagement page, I am a Rising Leader for Rewriting the Code. Rewriting the Code is a network for women in technology, including college students and professionals working in industry. This community means a lot to me, and I always encourage women interested in tech to join.

To give a bit of my origin story, I first began coding in middle school. I decided to continue learning to program in high school, even though I wasn't sure if I was smart enough. In my junior year, I took AP Computer Science, and this class gave me the confidence to choose CS as my intended major when applying to colleges. Also, I joined my high school's robotics team as well as taking robotics classes, which I really enjoyed. My interest in robotics and machines began ten years ago when I learned how to sew. Ever since, I have been fascinated with how my sewing machine works. Some of my favorite sewing projects have been quilts, masks, tote bags, and more. I believe that sewing taught me to be a creative problem solver, which helps me in every part of my life, including my interest in tech.
